What are the responsibilities and job description for the Journeyman Electrician position at DATAONE CONSTRUCTION?
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, fixtures, and equipment in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable local and state codes
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to determine layout of electrical systems
- Install conduit, raceways, cable tray, panels, switchgear, transformers, and related electrical distribution equipment
- Pull, terminate, and connect wiring for power, lighting, and control systems
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical malfunctions using appropriate testing devices and repair or replace faulty components
- Ensure all work complies with company safety standards, OSHA regulations, and project-specific safety plans
- Coordinate with project superintendents, foremen, and other trades to maintain project schedules
- Mentor and provide direction to apprentices and helpers on site
- Maintain accurate documentation including timesheets, material usage, and job progress reports
- Operate hand and power tools, lifts, and other equipment safely and appropriately
- Participate in job site inspections and support quality control efforts
- Travel to project sites as required, given DataOne's nationwide project footprint
- Active Journeyman Electrician license (state-issued, as applicable to project location)
- Minimum 4-5 years of hands-on journeyman-level electrical experience in commercial and/or industrial settings
- Strong working knowledge of the NEC and local/state electrical codes
- Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, and construction documents
- Experience with conduit bending, cable pulling, panel installation, and termination work
- OSHA 10 certification (OSHA 30 preferred)
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
Preferred:
- Experience on large-scale commercial, industrial, or mission-critical (data center) construction projects
- Familiarity with low-voltage, fire alarm, or controls systems
- Prior experience working for a self-performing general contractor
- Willingness to travel or relocate for project assignments
