Summary:

The Lead Shipping & Receiving Coordinator is a hands-on position responsible for coordinating daily shipping, receiving, and inventory activities. This role functions as a working lead, supporting workflow coordination and providing day-to-day operational guidance while performing all core duties of the department. The position ensures efficient material flow, accurate documentation, and adherence to safety, quality, and productivity standards. This position is in our Hanover, Massachusetts warehouse. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Coordination & Workflow Support

·         Coordinate daily shipping and receiving activities based on priorities and production needs

·         Serve as primary point of contact for workflow coordination during the shift

·         Assign and prioritize tasks to support operational efficiency

·         Provide day-to-day guidance, training, and support to team members

·         Provide coverage for Supervisor/Foreman as needed

·         Communicate with supervision regarding workflow, issues, and priorities

·         Support onboarding and cross-training of employees

 

Shipping, Receiving & Inventory Operations

·         Verify, receive, store, stage, and ship materials accurately

·         Prepare and expedite shipments, including packing, labeling, and documentation

·         Determine appropriate shipping methods based on customer requirements

·         Load and unload trucks and customer pickups

·         Compare shipments against bills of lading, invoices, and orders

·         Inspect incoming materials; report damages, shortages, and discrepancies

·         Process returns (RMA), damaged goods, and shortages

·         Maintain inventory control activities, including cycle counts and transfers

·         Assist customers with order pickups and counter service

 

Documentation & Paperwork

·         Complete and verify all shipping, receiving, and inventory documentation

·         Process driver paperwork, including bills of lading, packing slips, and delivery documents

·         Process transfer and shipment paperwork for internal and external material movement

·         Monitor the flow of paperwork into inventory systems for timely and accurate entry

·         Investigate and help resolve documentation discrepancies

 

Operational Support

·         Support safe and efficient movement of materials throughout the facility

·         Assist in maintaining productivity, accuracy, and quality standards

·         Support tracking of shipping and receiving activity

·         Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

·         Follow all safety policies, PPE requirements, and OSHA standards

 

Equipment & Systems

·         Operate forklifts and material handling equipment (OSHA certification required)

·         Use shipping software and inventory systems to process and track transactions

·         Operate warehouse equipment (pallet jacks, stretch wrap equipment, tools, etc.)

 

Core Competencies

·         Knowledge of shipping, receiving, and inventory control processes

·         Ability to coordinate workflow and communicate effectively

·         Strong attention to detail, particularly with documentation

·         Effective time management and prioritization

·         Commitment to safety, teamwork, and customer service

·         Basic computer skills for inventory and shipping systems

 

Physical Demands & Work Environment

·         Frequent lifting of 20–50 lbs, with or without assistance

·         Occasional heavier lifting using mechanical equipment or team lifting

·         Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, pushing, and pulling

·         Regular use of hands and arms to move and position materials

·         Ability to operate material handling equipment

·         Work in warehouse/manufacturing environment with varying conditions

·         Required use of PPE including safety glasses and hearing protection

 

Qualifications

·         High school diploma or GED required

·         CDL Class B license required; ability to support driver coverage

·         5 years of warehouse, shipping & receiving, or inventory experience

·         Lead or cross-functional experience preferred

·         Forklift certification required or ability to obtain

·         Understanding of material flow and warehouse operations
