A leading global AmLaw 10 firm is seeking an experienced attorney to join its Office of the General Counsel in a highly visible Compliance & Intake function. This is a unique opportunity to operate at the intersection of risk management, client engagement, and firm strategy, supporting complex decision-making in a fast-paced, international environment.
This role can sit hybrid in New York, Boston, or DC and will be two days in-office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a central advisor on compliance and business intake matters, ensuring consistency, sound judgment, and alignment with firm risk tolerance
- Act as a key liaison between partners, internal subject matter experts, and client contacts on engagement terms, compliance considerations, and onboarding requirements
- Review, analyze, and negotiate a wide range of client documentation including outside counsel guidelines (OCGs), RFPs, codes of conduct, and global panel agreements
- Handle complex, multi-jurisdictional negotiations involving ongoing or multi-document engagements
- Support new business intake processes, advising on risk-related issues for new clients and matters in collaboration with internal committees
- Develop and maintain expertise in firm policies, including ethics walls, information governance, and compliance frameworks; review and approve ethics wall requests as needed
- Contribute to process improvements, knowledge management, and training initiatives across compliance and intake functions
- Draft guidance and responses to client inquiries, escalating issues appropriately while maintaining efficiency and responsiveness
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a law firm or professional services environment, with exposure to compliance, conflicts, intake, contract review, or risk management
- Demonstrated experience reviewing and negotiating client terms, policies, and regulatory requirements
- Strong understanding of law firm operations, including client onboarding, information governance, and ethical compliance frameworks
- Ability to balance legal risk with commercial considerations in a client-facing environment
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven, fast-paced setting
- Excellent communication skills, with confidence engaging directly with senior stakeholders and clients

Salary : $200,000 - $240,000
