Saw Operator

BMG’s Beaverton, MI site has an opening for a Saw Operator!  As a Saw Operator, you’ll play a key role in the machine-building process by cutting bars, angles, and flat stock to precise specifications. This position requires experience operating industrial cut-off saws, along with the safe use of overhead cranes, fork trucks, and material handling equipment. Your attention to accuracy and craftsmanship ensures quality parts for our thermoforming machine builds.

 EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS: 

1. A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
2. A minimum of 6 months experience in a manufacturing environment.
3. Ability to interpret blueprints.
4. Basic math and computer skills.
5. Familiarity with micrometers, scales, tape measures, gauges, hot & cold rolled steel, aluminum, stainless steel, brass, bronze bars, flats and angles.

 KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Receive work assignments.
2. Select stock as required and move from storage rack to saw.
3. Select feed and speed for cutting various materials square, and to tolerance of /-.030 Cut off proper quantities of stock, as required by blueprint.
4. Clean and debur parts as required.
5. Place cut off pieces on skid with proper paper work.
6. Return unused stock to proper location and keep accurate inventory of piece part.
7. Change saw blades as required.
8. Issue material to job and adjust/enter piece part in computer system.

  ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

• Lift, push, and pull up 35 to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
• Walk for extended periods of time.
• May work in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time, perform sustained manual activities at low to moderate levels of exertion.
• Must be able to access and navigate within each department at the organization’s facilities (i.e. climb stairs, ladders, etc.)
