Location: Kansas City, MO (100% On-Site, Monday-Friday; eventually some flexibility )

Duration: 12-Month Contract with strong likelihood for extension and/or hire


We're seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join a growing engineering team focused on delivering high-quality software through a combination of manual and automated testing. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, improving testing processes, and collaborating closely with developers to ensure reliable, scalable applications.


This role is fully on-site in Kansas City, MO, and offers long-term career potential with a team invested in your success.


What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, and execute both manual and automated test cases for web applications and APIs.
  • Build and maintain automated test frameworks to improve testing efficiency and software quality.
  • Perform API validation and integration testing to ensure application reliability.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders throughout the SDLC.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects while partnering with development teams to drive timely resolution.
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, code reviews, and testing strategy discussions.
  • Validate new features through functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives around testing processes and automation best practices.
  • Analyze test results, troubleshoot issues, and proactively identify areas of risk before production releases.


Required Qualifications

  • 3-7 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, Software Testing, or SDET roles.
  • Experience with both manual and automated testing methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience testing RESTful APIs.
  • Experience utilizing Confluence for documentation and collaboration.
  • Experience building or maintaining automated testing frameworks such as:
  • Playwright
  • Selenium
  • JUnit
  • Programming experience with Java, JavaScript, or similar object-oriented languages.
  • Exposure to cloud-based environments, specifically Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Databricks.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally in an Agile environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
  • Experience performing regression, smoke, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Understanding of Agile/Scrum software development practices.
