The M/E Engineer 3 - Electrical is responsible for performing increasingly complex mechanical and electrical engineering and field construction activities on assigned projects. This role involves collecting and assembling technical data, developing cost estimates, conducting systems and bid analysis, and supporting construction activities from preconstruction through commissioning.
The engineer will collaborate with project teams to ensure projects meet quality, safety, scheduling, and performance expectations while supporting engineering and construction coordination.
This role also contributes to constructability reviews, commissioning, scheduling coordination, and quality control, ensuring mechanical and electrical systems are implemented effectively and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Preconstruction
- Develop budgetary mechanical and electrical estimates based on schematic and program design information.
- Review mechanical and electrical system options and recommend optimal system solutions.
- Perform systems analysis and value engineering to improve project efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Assist in preparing mechanical and electrical scopes of work for subcontractor bidding.
- Participate in bid evaluation and subcontractor selection processes.
- Coordinate mechanical and electrical activities during construction phases.
- Develop system sequencing and scheduling strategies to support project timelines.
- Conduct job site inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
- Review shop drawings and submittals before submission to the design team.
- Identify potential constructability and quality issues within design documents.
- Develop pre-functional checklists and functional testing procedures.
- Support commissioning activities and verify contractor performance during functional testing.
- Generate commissioning plans and documentation for project stakeholders.
- Track and verify correction of deficiencies before final system approval.
- Develop innovative tools and methods to improve engineering workflows and construction processes.
- Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing within the team.
- Collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, and external stakeholders to achieve project success.

- Related Engineering Discipline
Experience
- 5 years of construction and/or engineering experience
- Experience supporting mechanical/electrical systems within construction projects
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications
- Knowledge of construction management methods and project delivery processes
- Experience supporting preconstruction and commissioning activities
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
- Valid and unrestricted driver's license required
- Ability to work full-time onsite at the project site in DeSoto, Kansas
- Willingness to travel occasionally as needed
