Cognos Report Writer / Analyst
Location: Jefferson City, MO (Hybrid – onsite 1–2 days per week as needed)
Duration: Long-Term Contract
Brooksource is seeking a Cognos Report Writer / Analyst to support a large-scale Medicaid Program Integrity initiative for a state healthcare agency, working alongside a leading State integrator partner. In this role, the selected candidate will develop, modify, and maintain Cognos reports that support the identification, analysis, and prevention of fraud, waste, and abuse within the Medicaid program.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with IBM Cognos Analytics, strong reporting and data analysis skills, and a background supporting healthcare claims, Medicaid, or healthcare-focused reporting environments. This is a highly visible, client-facing role that calls for a professional consultant who can respond quickly to evolving needs and maintain a high level of service in a collaborative environment.
This is a long-term engagement supporting a mature Medicaid program with significant contract runway and strong potential for multi-year continuation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, modify, and maintain IBM Cognos reports, dashboards, and reporting solutions.
- Gather reporting requirements from business and program stakeholders and translate them into actionable technical solutions.
- Analyze Medicaid claims, provider, member, and program data to support reporting and operational decision-making.
- Develop recurring operational, compliance, audit, and ad hoc reports.
- Validate report accuracy and troubleshoot data discrepancies.
- Collaborate with business users, program leaders, and technical teams to improve reporting capabilities and processes.
- Document report specifications, business rules, and reporting procedures.
- Support data quality efforts and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Provide timely responses to stakeholder inquiries and reporting requests.
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of experience developing reports using IBM Cognos Analytics, Cognos Report Studio, or related Cognos tools.
- Strong SQL and data querying experience.
- Experience working with large, complex datasets and relational databases.
- Ability to gather and interpret business requirements.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Professional presence with the ability to interact directly with client stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Medicaid, healthcare claims, healthcare operations, or payer environments.
- Knowledge of healthcare data, claims processing, provider networks, and member data.
- Experience supporting state government healthcare programs.
- Familiarity with Program Integrity functions, including fraud, waste, and abuse detection efforts.
- Experience with business intelligence, reporting, and data warehousing solutions.
Work Environment
- Hybrid role based in Jefferson City, Missouri, with onsite presence expected 1–2 times per week based on project needs.
