A Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation employer partner is seeking a Junior Bookkeeper assists the bookkeeper with the company’s financial data and compliance by maintaining accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations. They assist with daily accounting and administrative task.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Enter data for bills, invoices, receipts, and financial information
- Create and send customer invoices
- Upload, label, and organize accounting documents in shared drives
- Assist with entering expenses
- Enter credit card statements and maintain spreadsheets
- Maintain organized vendor and customer files
- Assist with A/P tasks such as entering bills
- Assist with A/R tasks
- Follow up on missing documents or information from internal team members
Required Skills & Abilities and Experience:
- Strong administrative or office experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), and Google Workspace
- Experience with rental or retail inventory management systems preferred
- Ability to learn and utilize new software
- Working knowledge of A/R & A/P functions, including collections
- Exceptional customer service skills: courteous, responsive, and resourceful
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Team player with exceptional organizational abilities and a sense of humor
- Punctual and able to work in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple projects
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of experience as a Bookkeeper
- 3-4 years of professional experience with QuickBooks (Pro or Enterprise)
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
Working Conditions:
- On-site during business hours (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer required
Salary : $60,000 - $65,000
