What are the responsibilities and job description for the Installer - III position at Broadstaff?
We are seeking experienced Installer III / Telecom Technicians for a Verizon Wireless Central Office decommissioning project.
Responsibilities
- Remove Lucent 5ESS, Nortel DMS, and similar telecom switching equipment.
- Remove racks, cabinets, cabling, and associated superstructure down to the concrete floor.
- Perform cable removal, verification, and basic telecom installation/testing.
- Perform basic -48V DC power work including feeders, fuse panels, and power leads.
- Read wiring diagrams, floor plans, and installation drawings.
- Use hand and power tools safely and maintain high-quality workmanship.
- Lead or mentor junior installers when needed.
Requirements
- 7–10 years of Central Office, Data Center, MTSO, or telecom installation experience.
- 4–6 years of Level 2 Installer experience or equivalent.
- Experience with telecom equipment installation and/or decommissioning.
- Lucent 5ESS or Nortel DMS experience strongly preferred.
- DC power experience is a plus.
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read technical drawings and use hand/test equipment.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
Work Requirements
- Primarily day shift, with occasional night work.
- Local work available; willingness to travel is preferred.
- Overtime and flexible schedules may be required.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs., climb ladders, work under raised floors, and work in confined spaces.
- Technicians provide basic hand tools; power tools are provided.
- Work boots recommended due to heavy equipment.
