Job Description:
We are seeking a Data Center Regional Technician/Engineer (Layer 1) to serve as a Lead Regional Field Technician supporting large-scale data center and network infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for overseeing cable installation teams, leading physical network migrations, and ensuring high-quality execution across multiple customer sites.
Key Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in data center or network environments
- Leadership experience managing small teams
- Strong knowledge of network cabling, fiber optics, and infrastructure technologies
- Familiarity with Cisco IOS, JunOS, and networking protocols
- Experience updating OS on Cisco, Juniper, or similar networking equipment
- Experience with network implementations and support
- Familiarity with Ekahau or network heat mapping tools
- Certifications such as BICSI Installer, CCENT, Network , or A (or equivalent knowledge)
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage complex project scopes
- Strong time management and prioritization skills
- Ability to travel up to 75%
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor field technicians on installation projects
- Coordinate and schedule technicians for on-site work and deliverables
- Serve as the primary on-site liaison for customers, partners, and subcontractors
- Plan and execute high-risk activities, including live network integrations
- Conduct site surveys and ensure readiness for installations
- Develop and maintain documentation for field operations and procedures
- Perform cabling tasks including pulling, splicing, securing cable, and running conduit
- Handle device installation including unboxing, racking, and mounting equipment
- Conduct DOA and Green Light testing
- Perform post-installation QA and validation
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
- Provide console access for remote engineering teams
- Collaborate with project management teams for execution planning
Work Schedule:
On-site work during maintenance windows. Typical schedule: arrival at 5 PM, work window from 6 PM to 2 AM (local time).
