Key Responsibilities
- Perform site preparation and excavation work for construction and paving projects.
- Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently, including excavators, skid steers, backhoes, and bulldozers.
- Excavate around underground utilities while maintaining required clearances and safety standards.
- Grade and prepare surfaces near sidewalks, streets, curbs, and driveways with precision.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform basic preventative maintenance.
- Work closely with foremen and crew members to ensure productive and safe job sites.
- Load and unload equipment; assist with lowboy transport as needed.
- Follow all DOT, OSHA, environmental, and company safety policies.
- Assist with general labor and site cleanup when required.
- Flexibility to work daytime, nighttime, and weekend shifts based on project schedules.
- Prior experience in excavation and site preparation required.
- Knowledge of construction materials, grade tolerances, and compaction requirements.
- Ability to read blueprints and understand survey markings.
- Demonstrated experience working near utilities and in tight or developed areas.
- Proficiency operating some or all of the following equipment:
- Excavator
- Skid Steer
- Backhoe
- Bulldozer
- Ability to independently perform grade checking.
- Proficiency with laser levels, rotating lasers, and hand levels.
- CDL Class A license preferred but not required.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and extended hours when needed.
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
