Interim Accounting Manager

Santa Ana, CA (100% Onsite)

Contract: 4–6 Months

Pay: $85–100/hour (W-2)

Brilliant is partnering with a growing organization seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to step into a key leadership role within the accounting function. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who thrives in environments where they can create structure, improve processes, and drive operational excellence.

The ideal candidate will be someone who can quickly assess current processes, establish clear expectations, improve team execution, and ensure accounting operations run efficiently and accurately.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and support the month-end close process, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
• Help drive an efficient and accurate close process with a focus on achieving an 8-day close timeline.
• Develop, document, and implement accounting SOPs and best practices.
• Improve workflow, accountability, and execution across the accounting team.
• Ensure timely posting of key accounting activities, including payroll and daily cash activity.
• Review and strengthen accounting processes and internal controls.
• Partner with accounting leadership to improve team collaboration and operational effectiveness.
• Work hands-on with general ledger activities, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Support ongoing process improvements across multiple accounting systems.

What We're Looking For:

• 5 years of progressive accounting experience with strong month-end close ownership.
• Prior Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, Controller, or Senior Accounting Consultant experience.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Proven ability to improve accounting processes and implement SOPs.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to work across multiple accounting systems.
• Experience leading teams, driving accountability, and improving execution.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner across accounting and finance teams.
