Tree/Shrub Pruning Technician (part-time, 17.5 hours/week)
Do you want to be a part of making BYU campus beautiful? The Tree/Shrub Pruning Technician assists the Lead Arborist in properly pruning and maintaining all assigned trees, shrubs, and hedges on campus. He or she will ensure safe and proper equipment operation and use of pruning tools. He or she is also responsible for equipment inventory, maintenance, and daily requirement needs. He or she participates in snow removal and must be available for call-outs during snow season.

Tree/Shrub Pruning Technician (part-time, 17.5 hours/week)

What You’ll Do In This Position
- Tree pruning and tree repair to include structural pruning, diagnostics, tree removal, and stump grinding
- Operate all equipment in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury and property damage
- Work in partnership with Campus, MTC, Church employees, and Campus visitors in a professional manner
- Help supervisor perform regular maintenance and cleaning on all equipment
- Ensure clean-up has been completed properly and all tools accounted for at the end of the day
- Available 24/7 during the snow season for snow removal, and work with other snow removal teams to ensure efficient operations and campus safety
- Perform other tasks as requested by supervisor
What qualifies you for this role:
- A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
- 1 years of experience in tree pruning or related field
- Willingness to learn or previous experience using maintenance equipment
- Ability to stand or crouch in a variety of positions, operating on one’s feet for an extended period of time to perform various labor tasks
- Attention to detail and strong observational skills
- Strong communication skills for client or team interaction
- Time management and ability to work independently or on a team
- Regular and consistent attendance at scheduled shift
- Ability to work well with a variety of people
- LMS Certification in pruning
- LMS Certification in chain saw operation
- Valid drivers license
