Position Overview
We are seeking a Shrub Care Specialist to join our landscape maintenance team.
This is a part-time position with consistent full-day shifts. Team members are expected to work at least two full days per week (Monday through Saturday).
This role requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and a developing eye for plant health and aesthetics. Shrub care directly affects the long-term health and appearance of our clients’ landscapes, and this position plays a key role in maintaining that standard.
Each team member has a primary focus area, but we operate as a collaborative crew. Everyone assists where needed to complete the day’s assignments.
Primary Responsibilities
As a Shrub Care Specialist, your primary focus will be the health, structure, and appearance of shrubs and ornamental plants.
You will:
- Identify or quickly learn to identify common shrubs and ornamental plants in our region
- Apply proper pruning techniques based on plant species, growth patterns, and season
- Shape shrubs with attention to long-term plant health and balanced appearance
- Recognize signs of plant stress, disease, improper watering, or structural issues
- Exercise judgment in deciding what to remove, what to preserve, and how to shape
- Maintain consistent quality standards across all properties
- Communicate professionally with clients when shrub-related questions arise on site
This role requires both physical work and thoughtful decision-making.
Team Responsibilities
All team members, regardless of specialty, are expected to:
- Assist with general landscape maintenance including mowing, weeding, raking, digging, seasonal cleanup, and snow removal
- Support teammates to complete daily job assignments efficiently
- Follow company procedures and safety practices
- Learn and apply company training
- Contribute to a respectful and professional team environment
Shrub Care Specialists may take the lead when shrub work is the primary focus of the day, but teamwork remains essential.

Team members must be able to:
- Safely drive a company pickup truck, with trailer
- Transport team members and equipment to job sites
- Operate hand pruners, hedge trimmers, and related equipment responsibly
- Respect and maintain company vehicles and tools
Training is available for towing and advanced pruning techniques if you are willing to learn.
Schedule & Work Availability
- Part-time position
- Must be available for at least two full workdays per week
- Typical workdays are full-day shifts
- Monday through Saturday scheduling
- Work availability depends on consistent weekly availability and seasonal workload

- Includes technology use premium for required smartphone usage
- Raises available based on training completion, performance, and reliability
- Company-provided on-the-job training
Higher starting wages may be considered for applicants with demonstrated pruning experience.
