What are the responsibilities and job description for the Applied Scientist position at BrickRed Systems?
We are hiring an Applied Scientist with about 3 years of experience, for a full-time onsite role in Bellevue. The role sits at the intersection of machine learning, econometrics, and data science, focusing on causal ML models, experimentation, and measurement of advertising effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with senior scientists and engineers to improve models and implement ML solutions.
- Prototype, deploy, and maintain large-scale causal ML models.
- Conduct research & data analysis on enterprise and experimental datasets.
- Define data quality standards, capture outliers, and track model performance.
- Collaborate with product teams to improve advertising effectiveness measurement.
Basic Qualifications
- 3 years building ML models for business applications.
- PhD OR Master’s with 4 years experience in CS, CE, ML, or related fields.
- Strong coding skills in Python, Java, or C .
- Hands-on with ML frameworks (scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow).
- Solid experience in data exploration (SQL, pandas, Spark).
- Strong written communication skills (simplify complex ideas for stakeholders).
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of causal inference, A/B testing, experimentation.
- Experience with MLOps (deploying models into production).
- Exposure to causal ML modeling (uplift modeling, double ML).
- Familiarity with Azure cloud.
- Strong statistical visualization skills.
- Digital advertising experience (nice-to-have, not required).
