Overview
The ADR Sells products or services primarily via phone for Breezy Hill Nursery while positively and proudly representing our brand. Manages relationships with customers, serving as the key point of contact, from initial lead outreach to when a purchase is ultimately made. Treats the customer’s business as they would their own.
Key Responsibilities
· Actively promote and sell the full portfolio of company products to both new and existing customers, driving consistent growth and strengthening relationships.
· Proactively prospect, qualify, and connect with potential customers to boost sales revenue, increase margins, and expand the overall account base within the territory.
· Keep customer records accurate and up to date by consistently documenting interactions, opportunities, and account details in the company’s CRM.
· Confidently negotiate with leads, overcome objections, and close win-win deals that support company goals while delivering meaningful value to customers.
· Own the sales process from close to completion—ensuring orders are accurately entered, fulfilled on time, and aligned with customer needs.
· Build trusted partnerships by understanding customer goals, sharing insights, and introducing fresh ideas that help customers think differently and succeed.
· Collaborate closely with the Marketing team to support and execute targeted B2B campaigns and promotional efforts.
· Participate in monthly sales meetings and represent the company through occasional travel to customer visits, industry events, and sales training opportunities, including occasional overnight stays.
Qualifications
· Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Preferred Education: Degree in Ornamental Horticulture or a related field.
· Experience: One to two years of nursery sales experience or other relevant sales or customer-facing experience.
· Driving: Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for occasional in-person sales visits (approximately 15% of time).
SKILLS:
- Knowledgeable about ornamental plant material used in midwestern landscapes.
- Intermediate experience using Microsoft Office OS or related products required.
- Enjoys working with diverse clientele.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Possesses good math skills (understands margin, mark up, etc.).
- Recognizes challenges then creates solutions to them and follows through with stakeholders (customers, teammates, business partners, etc.)
- Uses data to provide insights on trends; turns insights into actionable strategies
- Has the ability to express themselves confidently while also respecting others’ opinions
PHYSICAL: Must be able to sit, stand for extended periods. Be able to lift a minimum of 35 lbs.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Able to work in an office environment, talk to customers via phone the majority of the day, attend periodic in-person sales meetings and occasional industry events
