What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Tech 2 position at BREC Recreation And Park Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge?
The Maintenance Tech 2 works mainly outdoors at BREC parks and facilities. Performs general maintenance duties as assigned and may be required to drive pickup truck and trailer.
Education Required:- High School diploma or equivalent.
Years Relevant Work Experience: One (1) year related to specific area of hire
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Specialized experience in specific field of hire (Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Painting, Welding, Tree Care, Horticulture, Sports Turf, Grounds Maintenance)
- Ability to operate maintenance equipment and motorized vehicles.
- Ability to read and write the English Language
- Ability to adjust to changing work demands, procedures, technology, and/or priorities
- Ability to perform manual and skilled labor in various weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs., occasionally
- Ability to follow simple oral & written instructions
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
Essential Functions and Duties:
- Operates variety of commercial type equipment including, but not limited to; riding mowers, trucks, trailers, tractors with various attachments, aerifiers, blowers, pressure washer, powered hand tools, and other related maintenance equipment in order to maintain parks, athletic fields, and other facilities.
- Repairs and maintains playground equipment, athletic field maintenance and set-up, and performs other repairs as directed.
- Levels park surfaces, digs/fills ditches, loads dirt/sand/gravel/brush/debris and other materials onto trucks.
- Cut/load/remove tree limbs.
- Drives trucks and trailers loaded with equipment from site to site.
- Assists trades or other specialized staff with repairs as directed.
- Assisting other personnel as directed by supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
