The Maintenance Tech 1 works mainly outdoors at BREC parks and facilities. Performs general grounds maintenance duties and may be required to drive pickup truck and trailer.

Years Relevant Work Experience:
- One (1) year related grounds or mechanical experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- Knowledge of basic principles and practices of operating a variety of grounds maintenance equipment and tools
- Skill in use of hand tools and a variety of commercial type equipment involved in ground maintenance
- Basic mechanical ability
- Ability to prioritize multiple work orders and projects
- Ability to coordinate small maintenance projects from planning through completion
- Ability to read basic maintenance manuals and equipment specifications
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, contractors, vendors, and the public
- Must have a positive attitude with the willingness and desire to learn new skills
- Ability to adjust to changing work demands, procedures, technology, and/or priorities
- Ability to perform manual and skilled labor in various weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. occasionally
- Ability to follow simple oral & written instructions
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
- Drive BREC vehicles to transport tools, materials, equipment, and supplies to and from work sites.
- Perform preventative and routine maintenance on the BREC Womack Building and surrounding grounds.
- Assemble, install, move, and repair office furniture, shelving, signage, and building fixtures.
- Conduct routine inspections of the facility to identify maintenance, safety, and operational concerns.
- Respond to maintenance work orders in a timely manner and document completed work.
- Coordinate and monitor repairs performed by outside contractors and vendors while ensuring work is completed according to BREC standards.
- Assist with facility setup and breakdown for meetings, special events, trainings, and public programs.
- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, equipment, and repair materials; notify supervisor when replenishment is needed.
- Ensure the building remains clean, organized, and presentable for employees and visitors.
- Perform pressure washing, painting, and exterior improvements to maintain the appearance of the facility.
- Perform routine grounds maintenance around the Womack Building including litter removal, trimming, landscape maintenance, and seasonal cleanup.
- Monitor building security by reporting damaged doors, locks, lighting, fencing, and other safety concerns.
- Assist in emergency response efforts including storm preparation, storm recovery, flooding response, and facility damage assessments.
- Assist with departmental renovation and facility improvement projects as assigned.
- Operate and maintain maintenance equipment, power tools, ladders, lifts, and vehicles safely.
- Follow all BREC safety policies, OSHA guidelines, and departmental procedures.
- Assist other maintenance trades and departments as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
