Under limited supervision, Manages the condition and care of BREC's fleet of vehicles and equipment. Supervises several mechanics in the proper servicing and repairing of equipment and vehicles, assisting as required; Establishes overall fleet management plan, techniques, processes and schedules; distributes workloads as directed.Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent and Vo-tech school diploma or Associates degree Preferred: Graduation from an accredited 4 year college or university
Area of Study (Major) Required: Automobile Repair and Maintenance Preferred: Automotive Technology or Engineering
Certification(s) Required: ASE mechanic Certification in at least three (3) categories Preferred: ASE Master Mechanic
License(s) Required: Valid LA Driver's License
Years Relevant Work Experience: 5 years supervisory experience in an equipment or vehicle repair setting. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Preferred: 10 or more years related experience.

- Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in the repair and maintenance of gasoline, diesel, alternative fuel, and hybrid engines
- Skill in organizing and efficiently operating a comprehensive fleet operation; planning, organizing, scheduling and coordinating the work of the division
- Skill in diagnosing defects in automotive and heavy equipment
- Skill in using a computer and basic knowledge of computer software
- Ability to apply technical skills and training to practical use
- Ability to train, instruct, and advise others in more technical aspects of mechanical work
- Ability to acquire new information and skills and to motivate mechanics to use technical knowledge
- Ability to create long-range plans, establish procedures, schedules, and assignments and to apply processes to practical application
- Must have a positive attitude with the willingness and desire to learn new skills
- Ability to drive a BREC Vehicle and operate various motorized equipment to perform essential functions of the job
- Ability to adjust to changing work demands, procedures, technology, and/or priorities
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, staff, vendors, and the public
- Creates and ensures adherence to a fleet management plan for all of BREC's equipment and vehicle fleet, including procurement and re-sale practices, maintenance standards, and all other management processes.
- Supervises and assists mechanics
- Analyzes, reviews, and approves outsourcing needs for mechanical repairs
- Evaluates technical skill, efficiency, and accuracy of mechanical work
- Instructs and trains mechanics in new technology advances
- Completes reports as required
- Makes recommendations for equipment replacement, including tools
- Evaluates performance of mechanics
- Communicates with District Managers to promote harmony and efficiency
- Monitors and distributes repair and service workload for maximum results
- Analyzes existing maintenance techniques and programs, and recommends needs
- Promotes safety
- Manages inventory of fleet vehicles and equipment
- Manages parts inventory, including ordering and stocking
- Recommends and sends equipment and vehicles to outside vendors for specialty repairs
- Manages relationships with outside vendors
- Manages record keeping and expense recording for fleet staff.
- Leads training classes for mechanics, equipment operators, and service personnel
- Communicates with equipment and supply dealers
- Recommends equipment purchases
- Recommends supply purchases for fleet servicing
- Other duties as assigned.

Salary : $49,379 - $78,998
