The Risk & Compliance Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing the risk and compliance requirements and implications within the initiatives across the organization. This role ensures that the organization initiatives adhere to the risk and compliance framework, internal policies, industry best practices and in compliance with applicable laws and standards. Must have an understanding and knowledge of risk management and regulatory compliance frameworks.
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end project management of risk and compliance initiatives, including scoping, planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting.
- Identify potential project and business risks, develop mitigation strategies, and monitor them throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure that projects align with the bank's risk tolerance and are completed within regulatory guidelines.
- Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to gather requirements, ensure alignment, and provide regular updates on project status, risks, and issues.
- Develop and maintain project documentation such as but not limited to issue logs, progress reports, and change management records.
- Support risk assessment and control testing activities to ensure effective risk mitigation strategies are implemented.
- Ensure projects and business processes comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. This includes working with the relevant stakeholders in updating existing policies and procedures (if needed).
- Coordinate audits/validations requested by Risk and Compliance department, ensuring timely remediation of findings and tracking of corrective actions.
- Implement project risk and compliance governance frameworks and best practices to maintain alignment with organizational objectives.
- Monitor and report project performance metrics to Risk Management team.
- Promote a strong risk awareness and compliance culture across the business.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of risk management frameworks.
- Good understanding of BSA/AML and Compliance (e.g., UDAAP) regulations.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to integrity and confidentiality.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Asana, Jira, or Smartsheet).
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, risk management, law, or related field.
- Minimum three years of experience in risk management, compliance, or project management roles.
- Proven experience managing cross-functional compliance or regulatory projects.
Language: English and Portuguese. Plus – Spanish.
