Job Summary:
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Cheer Coach to lead our middle school cheer program. The ideal candidate will bring positive energy, leadership, and a passion for working with youth. This role focuses on teaching basic cheer, tumbling, and performance skills while fostering teamwork, school spirit, and confidence among participants.
The Cheer Coach will support the school’s cheer team as they perform at football home games and represent their school community with pride and enthusiasm.

Work Location in person (one of the following schools):
- Valley Middle School: 1645 Magnolia Ave, Carlsbad, CA 92008
- Calavera Hills Middle School: 4104 Tamarack Ave #7101, Carlsbad, CA 92010
- Aviara Oaks Middle School: 6880 Ambrosia Ln, Carlsbad, CA 92011
Practices and games held on respective school campuses
Employment Period & Schedule
- Season Start: September 8, 2026
- Season End: October 15, 2026 (based on football team success there might be one more week of practices if they make playoffs)
Practice Schedule:
- 2 days a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays
- Tuesdays 2:45pm-4:00pm
- Thursdays 1:45pm-3:15pm
Game Schedule:
- Games will take place of practices
- They will Cheer at 4 Football Games for the Season - TBD on Tuesday or Thursday from 3:30pm-5:00pm
- First game: September 24, 2026
- Last game: October 15, 2026
Season Length: Approximately 6 weeks
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, plan, and instruct cheer practices focused on teamwork, technique, and school spirit.
- Teach basic tumbling, motions, jumps, and halftime performance routines.
- Foster a supportive and fun learning environment for students of all skill levels.
- Supervise students during practices and basketball games, ensuring safety and positive behavior.
- Coordinate game-day performances and halftime routines with basketball schedules.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and Club staff regarding schedules and updates.
- Encourage school pride and sportsmanship in all team activities.
- Ensure all safety and behavior policies are followed.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of cheer, dance, gymnastics, or sports coaching experience (required)
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with youth or students (required)
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must successfully pass a background check (required by Boys & Girls Clubs)
- Reliable transportation to and from practices and games
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Positive attitude, patience, and enthusiasm for working with middle-school-aged students
- Knowledge of basic tumbling and cheer fundamentals
- Ability to Relocate: Required if not currently residing nearby
