Boys Volleyball Coach
Reports To: Athletic Director
Pay & Benefits:
- $25.00 an hour
FLSA Status: Part-Time (Non-Exempt)
Summary:
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Boys Volleyball Coach to lead 6th-8th grade middle school athletes through an exciting and competitive fall season. This position is perfect for someone passionate about youth development, volleyball fundamentals, and building strong, respectful teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all practices, games, and tournament activities for the middle school boys’ volleyball team
- Plan drills, scrimmages, and development-focused sessions for athletes of all levels
- Coach all games (home and at Wave facility)
- Supervise players from arrival to closing (including travel and post-game supervision)
- Maintain positive communication with players, families, and Club leadership
- Ensure proper equipment usage and court safety
- Attend a team dinner and end-of-season events
Requirements:
- Prior volleyball coaching or playing experience highly preferred
- Must be 18 with reliable transportation
- Passionate about youth sports and team development
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Willing to coach evenings and travel to off-site games
- Background check required

Boys Volleyball Tryouts (you will go to one tryout at the school your assigned to)
September 1st Aviara Middle School Tryout
- 2:45pm - 3:45pm Tryouts
September 2nd Valley Middle School Tryout
- 2:45pm - 3:45pm Tryouts
September 3rd Calavera Middle School Tryout
- 2:45pm - 3:45pm Tryouts
Practice Schedule from September 7th - 17th (2 WEEKS)
Thursdays Early Release Day for Schools
- Boys Volleyball Practice 1:45pm - 2:45pm (Aviara 1:30pm - 2:30pm)
Fridays
- Boys Volleyball Practice 2:45pm - 4:15pm
Games Start; Schedule from September 21st - October 15th (4 WEEKS)
Mondays/Wednesdays Games
- Boys Volleyball has a game at Wave 4:30pm - 5:45pm
Practice Thursdays Early Release Day for Schools
- Boys Volleyball Practice 1:45pm - 2:45pm (Aviara 1:30pm - 2:30pm)
Practice Fridays
- Boys Volleyball Practice 2:45pm - 4:15pm
October 16th - 19th Post Season
Top 4 teams in league make playoffs. If you're not top 4 then your season ends on October 15th.
Mondays First Round
First Round of playoffs at Wave 4:30pm - 5:45pm
Wednesday Championship Game
Championship Game at Wave 4:30pm - 5:45pm

Games are at Wave Volleyball Center

- Calavera Hills Middles School: 4104 Tamarack Ave #7101, Carlsbad, CA 92010
- Valley Middle School: 1645 Magnolia Ave, Carlsbad
- Aviara Oaks Middle School: 6880 Ambrosia Ln, Carlsbad, CA 92011
