Position Title: Tax Manager
The Tax Manager will oversee a diverse portfolio of business tax clients across various industries, including small businesses, retail, contractors, and manufacturing. Salary Range: $110,000 - $150,000 / Year DOE
Tax Manager Responsibilities
- Manage business tax clients and act as their main point of contact
- Review corporate, partnership, and S-Corp tax returns
- Ensure tax filings are accurate and submitted on time
- Research tax laws and resolve complex tax issues
- Provide tax planning strategies to help clients save money
- Advise businesses on entity structure and tax implications
- Respond to IRS and state tax notices
- Work directly with business owners, CFOs, and controllers
- Manage multiple client deadlines and projects simultaneously
- Supervise and review work completed by tax staff
- Train and mentor junior team members
- Delegate assignments and monitor workflow during busy seasons
- Participate in client meetings and planning discussions
- Help build and maintain strong long-term client relationships
- Support firm growth through networking, referrals, and business development
Tax Manager Requirements
- 5 years of business tax experience
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting
- CPA
- Strong background with S Corp tax returns
- Experience responding to IRS and state tax notices
- Experience in networking and bringing in referrals
- Experience reviewing staff tax returns and supporting edits
- Strategic mindset - experience in finding ways clients can reduce tax liability
- Public accounting experience
