This role is the engine of accuracy, cash flow, and operational clarity. You’ll handle AP, AR, payroll preparation for 150 employees, monthly reporting, and the day-to-day financial decisions that keep a $20M operation running clean. - Process all AP and subcontractor/vendor payments with proper documentation and approvals
- Manage AR, customer invoicing, and record payments for 35 active projects
- Prepare monthly billing cycles and reconcile all project revenue
- Collect, review, and prepare payroll hours for 150 employees before submission to PEO
- Maintain the general ledger, handle month-end reconciliations, and prepare financial statements
- Deliver monthly job cost reports, analyze profitability, and flag cost overruns
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, audits, and tax-related compliance
- Monitor contract terms, retainage, waivers, and subcontractor payment requirements
- Identify financial discrepancies, escalate issues appropriately, and resolve conflicts with professionalism
- Input workers’ comp payroll data and handle monthly reporting through modified PEO systems
- Support project managers with cost tracking, variance analysis, and financial clarity
- Minimum 5 years of construction accounting experience
- Deep knowledge of job costing, retaining, subcontractor billing, and construction-specific accounting practices
- Strong AP/AR, payroll preparation, and month-end close experience
- High level of organization and attention to detail, and ability to keep multiple deadlines and workflows moving
- Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to identify red flags in invoices, cost data, or job numbers and address them quickly
- Proficiency with accounting software, Excel, and modified PEO systems
- Ability to read and interpret contracts; negotiation skills are a major plus
- Bilingual Spanish a plus
