Complaint Drafter / Demand Writer (Part Time Contract)

A small, fast-paced legal team based in California is seeking a detail-oriented Complaint Drafter / Demand Writer to support their employment-focused practice. The role centers on drafting high-quality complaints and demands for plaintiff cases, including FEHA, Wage & Hour, and class actions, using existing templates and case materials. This position requires reviewing case files, identifying key information, and maintaining organized notes and documentation across multiple systems. The team values independence and efficiency, so the ideal candidate is highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple files at once while producing accurate, thorough work. Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet daily output expectations are essential for success in this role.

Salary Range: $40 - $75 / hour DOE

Complaint Drafter / Demand Writer Responsibilities

• Prepare multiple legal complaints each day using available templates and case materials
• Review case files and use research or AI tools to identify critical information
• Keep detailed notes and organize documents in the appropriate systems
• Work independently while coordinating with legal team members as needed
• Meet deadlines consistently with accurate and thorough work
• Adapt drafting approach to a variety of employment-related plaintiff cases
  
  

Complaint Drafter / Demand Writer Requirements

• 5 years of experience preparing legal complaints
• Experience with employment-related plaintiff cases, including FEHA and Wage & Hour matters
• Skilled in drafting complaint demands and using templates effectively
• Comfortable using legal research, case management, and document organization tools
• Highly organized, self-directed, and able to manage multiple files independently
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-volume, accurate work efficiently
