Commercial Estimator Responsibilities
- Review and analyze drawings, bid requirements, and project documents
- Solicit and qualify subcontractor bids to ensure strong coverage
- Prepare full soup-to-nuts estimates, including proposals and supporting documentation
- Build competitive bids across TIs, industrial/storage, and ground-up projects
- Manage approximately three estimates at a time while hitting all deadlines
- Collaborate with the internal project team and leadership throughout the bid cycle
- Perform occasional site visits
- Utilize PlanSwift or BlueBeam for takeoffs and Microsoft Excel for estimating formulas
- Maintain detailed schedules using Microsoft Project
- 3 - 5 years of commercial estimating experience
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas
- Experience with PlanSwift or BlueBeam preferred
- Familiarity with ground-up, industrial, TI, multifamily, storage, or assisted-living projects is a plus
- Ability to communicate confidently with subcontractors and internal teams
- Strong follow-through, deadline discipline, and a bias for action
- Collaborative personality
- Degree is not required if experience is strong
