Accounting Manager Responsibilities
- Own and execute monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
- Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, and account analysis
- Maintain and manage general ledger activity across multiple entities
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll validation, cash application, and fixed assets
- Ensure accuracy of revenue recognition, billing, and contractor payroll alignment
- Support internal and external audits, including documentation and audit readiness
- Partner with external providers on tax filings and compliance requirements
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls and accounting policies
- Identify and resolve discrepancies, variances, and financial data issues
- Drive process improvements, system enhancements, and automation initiatives
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, compliance, and leadership teams
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Support strategic initiatives, scaling efforts, and new customer implementations
- At least 5 years of accounting experience
- Full cycle accounting experience
- Ability to manage details while being open to team management
- Willingness to work after hours when needed
- Advanced Excel skills are required
- Strong understanding of financial statement flow and GAAP principles
- Experience in staffing, services, or high-volume transaction environments is preferred
- BA degree in Accounting
- CPA or Master’s is strongly preferred
- Ideally located in the metro Detroit area
- Staffing experience is preferred
- Experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP) is preferred
- Familiarity with AI tools in accounting is preferred
