JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Buildings Maintenance Manager responsible to complete custodial care of assigned buildings.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year custodial experience
- A reasonable mechanical aptitude and interest in machinery and equipment used in the maintenance of buildings.
- Valid driver's license (May require travel between buildings)
- Ability to carry 25 pounds for 25 yards.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Knowledge of floor care, cleaning practices and cleaning products.
- Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, equipment and effective practices used in carrying out the duties of the assigned position
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Basic computer skills
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties:
- Vacuum carpets and ventilation registers, sweep and mop floors
- Collect trash and empty trash receptacles and remove debris in the immediate area surrounding buildings
- Clean and disinfect tables and chairs, drinking fountains, kitchen appliances, and restrooms
- Fill and maintain soap dispensers, toilet paper, and paper towels
- Wash windows, walls and fixtures
- Strip and wax and spray buff floors
- Shampoo carpets and power wash surfaces
- Regularly inspect and as necessary clean restrooms, locker rooms and showers
- The ability to move equipment and materials from location to location.
- Schedule daily custodial tasks and submit reports as directed
- Be available to work in any District facility- may require stopping daily routine to accommodate call offs, special projects, and any other custodial needs of the district. During outdoor athletic season, maintain custodial responsibility for field concessions. (Typically, April through October)
- Abide by the Bolingbrook Park District dress code for your area
- Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the District’s safety program
- Work as a team player with co-workers and in conjunction with other departments
Marginal Duties:
- Replace Village and U.S. flag when worn.
- Complete minor repairs inside buildings.
- Paint walls and ceilings.
- Pressure clean walls, floors, walkways and equipment.
- Perform minor plumbing repairs and maintenance.
- Attend staff and in-service meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as required by the Buildings Maintenance Manager.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Walking: to pick up trash, vacuum, set up tables
Seeing: to drive a vehicle; to obtain information from written materials
Sitting: to drive a vehicle
Lifting: to set up tables and chairs, lift and carry 25lbs. for 25 yards; to shovel snow; to pick up trash cans
Climbing: to climb a ladder and/or use scissor lift while painting, cleaning walls; washing windows, changing light bulbs
Pulling: to vacuum, mop, or strip floors
Pushing: to vacuum, mop, or strip floors; to shovel snow
Stooping: to pick up trash; to clean at lower levels
COGNITIVE CONSIDERATIONS
Must have the ability to read and write and organize materials. Ability to drive an automobile. Must be able to relate to other people in a professional manner. Ability to adjust from maximum supervision to minimal supervision. Ability to remain focused despite internal and external distractions. Must exhibit good safety awareness and judgment.

This is a full time hourly, non-exempt position
IMRF
This position is required to participate in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund
HOURS
Generally, this position works from 9:30am – 6:00pm, Monday through Friday, and includes scheduling changes to include special events, evenings and weekends as needed. This position has a base of 40 hours per week.
