Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation is seeking a Line Technician B or higher to join our Caldwell District team. What You'll Do
As a Line Technician, you'll play a critical role in delivering safe, reliable electric service across our communities. You will:
- Construct, operate, maintain, and repair overhead and underground distribution and transmission lines
- Work with essential equipment including transformers, poles, fuses, breakers, and related hardware
- Respond to outages and restore power quickly, safely, and efficiently-regardless of weather or time of day
- Deliver exceptional customer service while representing the cooperative in the field
Position Level Overview
Line Technician B or Higher
- Perform most line work independently with minimal supervision
- Take full responsibility for completed work
- Apply electrical theory in real-world situations
- Support training and mentor apprentice lineworkers
- Serve as a role model for safe work practices
- Perform all types of line work, including complex troubleshooting and emergency response
- Work independently under all conditions
- Install and repair all standard equipment and materials
- Train and lead apprentices in safety and technical skills
- Apply advanced electrical theory (voltage regulation, fault currents, transformer sizing, etc.)
- Maintain deep knowledge of system operations, circuits, and substations
- Consistently deliver top-tier customer service
What We're Looking For
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree in Line Technology preferred
- Minimum 4 years of linework experience
Certifications & Requirements
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a safe driving record
- Current DOT physical and ability to pass ongoing drug screenings
- Ability to live within 30 minutes of Caldwell District location
Work Schedule & Expectations
- Standard hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Flexible scheduling may include:
- 4-day workweeks (10-hour shifts)
- Alternative schedules (e.g., 3x12s)
- On-call rotation required
- Must be available for overtime and emergency response

This is a physically demanding, outdoor role requiring:
- Climbing, lifting, and working at heights
- Exposure to all weather conditions
- High attention to safety and detail
