Position Overview

Bloc Resources is seeking an experienced and technically advanced Senior Electrical Engineer to support large-scale power system design and engineering projects. This role is responsible for leading and overseeing the development of electrical system designs, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards, and providing technical direction to engineering and design teams.

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in electrical power systems, including design documentation, system layouts, and project execution. This individual will play a critical role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions across complex infrastructure projects, including power generation and nuclear environments.

This is a senior-level role requiring strong leadership, independent decision-making, and the ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Design & Engineering

• Lead and support the design of electrical power systems, including development of:

• Scope documents and technical specifications

• Single-line diagrams, elementary diagrams, and wiring diagrams

• System layouts, circuitry designs, and equipment configurations

• Ensure all designs meet project requirements, engineering standards, and operational needs

• Apply advanced engineering principles to develop innovative and efficient solutions

Project Management & Coordination

• Plan, schedule, and coordinate multiple engineering projects to meet cost and timeline objectives

• Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, construction, and operations

• Monitor project progress and proactively address risks, issues, and delays

Technical Leadership & Oversight

• Provide technical direction and mentorship to engineers, designers, and drafters

• Review and approve engineering drawings, calculations, and design documentation

• Ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality across all engineering deliverables

• Support knowledge sharing and development within the engineering team

Compliance & Standards

• Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and QA requirements

• Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements

• Support audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews as needed

• Implement best practices for safety, quality, and compliance

System Testing & Startup Support

• Assist in system checkout, commissioning, and startup activities when required

• Support troubleshooting and resolution of system issues during implementation

• Provide technical guidance during installation and operational phases

Problem Solving & Engineering Analysis

• Apply advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex engineering challenges

• Conduct design evaluations, calculations, and performance assessments

• Make independent engineering decisions with appropriate consultation from leadership

Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration

• Communicate effectively with internal teams, plant personnel, and external vendors

• Coordinate across disciplines to ensure alignment and project success

• Build strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (required)

• 10 years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on power systems design

• Proven experience leading or supporting large-scale engineering design projects

• Experience in power generation, industrial, or nuclear environments strongly preferred

• Experience with project scheduling, budgeting, and cost control

• Familiarity with engineering tools and software used in design and analysis

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on nuclear plant or large-scale utility projects

• Background in power generation or industrial electrical systems design

• Experience providing technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams

• Familiarity with regulatory compliance in highly regulated environments
