Vice President of Construction | Commercial General Contractor | Dallas, TX
$200,000 – $300,000 base salary bonus and benefits
Blayze Group is partnering with an established commercial general contractor delivering complex ground-up and renovation projects across Texas.
The business has a strong reputation, an experienced leadership team, and a significant pipeline of upcoming work. As part of its continued growth, my client is appointing a Vice President of Construction to take executive responsibility for construction operations across the company.
This role will sit within the senior leadership team and oversee project delivery, operational performance, field leadership, risk management, and client satisfaction across a portfolio of commercial projects.
The company already has capable project teams and proven systems in place. This appointment is focused on strengthening operational discipline, improving consistency across projects, developing future leaders, and ensuring the construction function can support continued growth without compromising quality, schedule, safety, or margin.
The position is based in Dallas and will require oversight of multiple projects and operational teams across the Texas market.
The Role
• Provide executive leadership across all commercial construction operations
• Oversee Project Executives, Project Managers, Superintendents, Preconstruction teams, and operational support functions
• Establish clear standards around project delivery, accountability, communication, and performance
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements
• Monitor project performance across cost, schedule, quality, safety, manpower, and client satisfaction
• Identify underperforming projects early and implement practical recovery strategies
• Lead regular project reviews, executive reporting, forecasting, and risk assessments
• Strengthen operational consistency across estimating, preconstruction, project management, field operations, and closeout
• Improve coordination between office and field teams throughout the project lifecycle
• Support project teams with procurement strategy, subcontractor performance, change management, and commercial decision-making
• Oversee project financial performance including cost projections, margin protection, cash flow, and exposure management
• Ensure accurate forecasting and accountability around committed costs, change orders, and project profitability
• Build, mentor, and retain high-performing operational leadership teams
• Support succession planning and the development of future Project Executives and senior field leaders
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and industry partners
• Support business development efforts through client engagement, project pursuits, interviews, and operational strategy
• Work closely with ownership and executive leadership on growth planning, staffing, market expansion, and long-term business strategy
Background Sought
• 15 years of commercial construction experience with a general contractor
• Significant leadership experience overseeing multiple projects, teams, and operational departments
• Proven experience delivering large-scale ground-up commercial construction projects
• Strong understanding of project financials, contracts, scheduling, procurement, risk, and operational controls
• Track record of improving project performance, accountability, and consistency across a construction business
• Experience managing Project Executives, Project Managers, Superintendents, and senior operational leaders
• Strong commercial judgment with the ability to protect margin while maintaining client relationships
• Credibility with field teams, project leadership, clients, and executive stakeholders
• Comfortable operating within a growing business and helping strengthen structure, systems, and leadership capability
• Texas construction market experience is strongly preferred
• A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline is preferred
