Position Description
The District Sales Manager is responsible for developing and executing territory sales strategies that drive sustainable revenue growth and expand Blast Resource Group's presence within the commercial, industrial, and government markets. This position is accountable for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, cultivating strategic client relationships, managing the sales pipeline, and partnering with internal teams to successfully deliver high-value metal building and construction solutions. The District Sales Manager serves as a trusted advisor to clients and plays a critical role in achieving the company's sales objectives through proactive business development, consultative selling, and exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Territory Growth
- Develop and execute a strategic territory business development plan that supports BRG's revenue, profitability, and growth objectives.
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new opportunities within the industrial, commercial, government, and energy markets.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective projects through proactive prospecting, networking, referrals, industry events, and strategic account management.
- Expand relationships with existing clients while identifying opportunities for repeat business and additional services.
- Develop and maintain territory forecasts and sales plans to meet or exceed contracted sales goals.
Client Relationship Management
- Establish trusted relationships with owners, architects, engineers, general contractors, EPC firms, developers, and other key decision-makers.
- Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the business development process, ensuring exceptional client service and responsiveness.
- Conduct regular client visits, presentations, lunch-and-learn sessions, and networking activities to strengthen relationships and promote BRG's capabilities.
- Resolve customer concerns promptly while maintaining long-term partnerships built on trust and performance.
Sales & Proposal Management
- Lead opportunities through the complete sales cycle from initial contact through contract execution.
- Coordinate with estimating, engineering, purchasing, and operations teams to develop competitive proposals and technical solutions.
- Review project requirements, assist with pricing strategy, negotiate commercial terms, and support contract execution.
- Maintain accurate opportunity information, customer communications, and forecasting within the company's CRM platform.
Market Development & Strategic Initiatives
- Monitor market trends, competitive activity, industry developments, and customer needs to identify emerging business opportunities.
- Represent BRG at trade shows, industry conferences, professional associations, and community events.
- Support the development of strategic marketing initiatives, customer outreach campaigns, and sales presentations.
- Identify opportunities to expand BRG's market presence through new clients, geographic expansion, and strategic partnerships.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with estimating, engineering, project management, purchasing, marketing, and executive leadership to ensure successful pursuit and execution of projects.
- Facilitate effective project handoffs from sales to operations while maintaining client relationships throughout project delivery.
- Participate in sales meetings, strategic planning sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sales performance and customer experience.
Reporting & Performance
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline reports, customer activity records, and performance metrics.
- Analyze sales performance, market conditions, and territory trends to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Achieve individual performance objectives related to contracted sales, gross margin, proposal volume, new client acquisition, and customer retention.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned in support of BRG's strategic objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of successful business development or outside sales experience, preferably within the metal building, commercial construction, industrial services, building products, or engineering consulting industries.
- Demonstrated ability to develop new business, build strategic client relationships, and consistently achieve or exceed sales and revenue objectives.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, design-build delivery, estimating practices, contract negotiation, and project execution.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and other key stakeholders.
- Proficiency with CRM platforms, Microsoft 365 applications, and sales reporting tools; experience with MBS software, estimating systems, or ERP platforms is preferred.
- Self-motivated and highly organized with strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience utilizing AI-enabled productivity tools for research, content development, customer engagement, and workflow efficiency is preferred.
- Valid driver's license with the ability and willingness to travel throughout the assigned territory, including occasional overnight travel for client meetings, project visits, and industry events.
- Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and a customer-focused mindset with a commitment to collaboration, continuous improvement, and delivering exceptional client service.
Performance Metrics
Performance in this position will be evaluated based on the successful achievement of individual and company objectives, including:
- Achievement of annual contracted sales, revenue, and gross margin objectives.
- Development and maintenance of a healthy sales pipeline, including qualified opportunities and forecast accuracy.
- New client acquisition, strategic account growth, and expansion of existing customer relationships.
- Proposal activity, proposal win rate, and successful conversion of opportunities into awarded projects.
- Customer satisfaction, client retention, and repeat business generated within the assigned territory.
- Timely and accurate use of the company's CRM system, including opportunity management, forecasting, and customer activity tracking.
- Collaboration with estimating, engineering, project management, and operations to support successful project pursuits and client transitions.
- Professional representation of Blast Resource Group through industry involvement, networking, and adherence to the Company's Core Values and standards of excellence.
