Bishop & Company is seeking a Director of Finance & Operations for a respected nonprofit organization in Honolulu. This role is ideal for a strategic, hands-on leader who can balance high-level financial oversight with day-to-day operational execution.
What You’ll Do
You’ll serve as the organization’s senior finance leader, overseeing financial strategy, compliance, and operational infrastructure.
Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and cash flow management
- Provide financial insights to support executive decision-making
- Oversee audits, financial controls, and compliance requirements
- Ensure adherence to nonprofit accounting standards and fund accounting practices
Team & Vendor Leadership
- Supervise internal finance and administrative staff
- Manage outsourced accounting partners and review deliverables
- Build accountability and strong operational workflows
Grant & Compliance Oversight
- Track grant funding and ensure compliance with federal and state requirements
- Oversee reporting, audits, and financial documentation
Operations & Infrastructure
- Oversee administrative operations, facilities, and vendor relationships
- Evaluate and improve internal systems, processes, and tools
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA strongly preferred)
- 5 years of progressive experience in nonprofit finance and operations
- Strong expertise in fund accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting
- Experience managing audits and complex compliance requirements
- Proven leadership experience managing teams and/or external partners
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and strategic thinking
- Non-profit experience essential, highly preferred
- Experience in domestic violence advocacy, crisis intervention, or victim services highly preferred
- Passion for mission-driven work and community impact

Compensation
Compensation and title are determined individually for each candidate based on the skills and experience they bring to the role. The expected starting salary range for this position is typically an estimated $90,000 – $120,000 annually. This salary is not a guarantee of a specific salary or title; final compensation and title depend on multiple factors, including education, experience, certifications, and other job related requirements, and may fall outside the range listed above.
