Step into a vital role supporting students in inclusive school environments as a Paraprofessional for upcoming summer programs. This contract opportunity in the Oakland area places you in a flexible, team-driven setting where your adaptability, compassion, and skill set will make a direct impact on students’ educational journeys. Assignments are campus-based, and paraprofessionals are expected to support wherever needed—including feeding, toileting, diapering, and specialized medical supports as required. A collaborative approach and willingness to meet all student needs are essential.
Qualifications & Desired Credentials:
- Minimum: Associate’s degree (or higher), or 48 college units and high school diploma, or passing CBEST/Instructional Aide Exam plus high school diploma
- Any of the following special certifications or training are highly valuable:
- Emergency anti-seizure medication training completed annually
- Current First Aid/CPR certification (district-funded renewal)
- Experience/credentials in physical health care procedures (g-tube feeding, blood glucose checks, suctioning, administering asthma medication, catheterization, etc.)
- Background in supporting students with significant social-emotional/behavioral needs
- Proficiency in sign language and/or supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Braille/literacy coursework or experience with vision-impaired populations
- State of California Vocational Nursing License with current First Aid/CPR (S22 level)
- Ability to provide documentation for all qualifications, certifications, and a reference from a supervising manager
Responsibilities:
- Support students’ educational and care needs, including medical and personal care tasks as assigned
- Participate in all required trainings and certifications
- Collaborate with site teams to provide a positive, safe, and inclusive environment
- Flexibly adapt to different grade levels and settings based on program need
