Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and evaluate the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of special education students to determine appropriate interventions.
- Design and implement behavior management plans and provide both individual and group counseling services.
- Collaborate closely with educators, administrators, and community organizations to promote student success academically and socially.
- Provide case management for students requiring multiple services and participate in IEP meetings, student assessments, and parent conferences.
- Conduct home visits when necessary to enhance school-family connections and support family engagement.
- Identify and report concerns regarding child abuse and neglect and apply crisis intervention strategies when appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
- Must hold a current LARA license and Michigan Department of Education (MDE) School Social Worker approval, including either a Preliminary School Social Worker Certificate (PSSWC), Professional School Social Worker Certificate (PSWC), or School Social Worker Permit (SSWP).
- Fully licensed social workers or those with a MSW limited license are eligible.
- Comfortable working onsite and adaptable to various grade level caseloads (Elementary to High School).
- Experience working in schools with special education students preferred.
Location: This position serves the Flint Community area but is posted for candidates in Grand Blanc, Lansing, and Detroit.
