Key Qualifications:
- Valid EIPA Score of 3.5 or above (please provide screenshot of confirmed score; no exceptions)
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language and strong knowledge of educational settings
- Previous experience interpreting for students, preferably in a school or similar environment
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and staff
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct sign language interpretation between students and staff throughout the school day
- Facilitate communication in general education and special education classrooms
- Adapt interpreting techniques to fit students’ needs in both individual and small group settings
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards of conduct
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and training as scheduled
- Communicate student progress and needs to appropriate personnel
Position Details:
- High School: Grayslake North High School, 35 hours/week, 8:00am-3:30pm, August 10, 2026 – May 20, 2027, caseload of 12 students (1-3 per class)
- Elementary-Middle School: John Powers Center, 35 hours/week, 8:15am-3:45pm, August 17, 2026 – May 28, 2027, caseload of 30 students (1-5 per class)
