Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1 year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A school-based opportunity is available for experienced Sign Language Interpreters to provide direct support to hard of hearing students in an elementary school setting located in Cape Coral, FL. This full-time, on-site contract assignment runs from ASAP through June 1, 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 interpreting services within the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) program.
- Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and support staff.
- Adapt communication methods to meet individual student needs.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in the educational environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.0 or higher is required.
- Previous experience interpreting in educational settings preferred.
- Ability to work full-time up to 37.5 hours per week.
- Candidates must complete fingerprinting through the AHCA Clearinghouse or provide valid Florida JLA badge credentials.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to support diverse student populations.
