Key Qualifications:
- Valid state certification/license as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience working with K-12 students in educational or clinical settings
- In-depth knowledge of various communication modalities (ASL, total communication, oral/aural approaches)
- Strong interpersonal and advocacy skills when working with students, families, and school staff
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and up-to-date instructional practices
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to DHH students across grade levels, adapting lessons to meet individual needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to foster inclusion
- Assess and monitor student progress, adjusting instructional methods as needed
- Advocate for accommodations, assistive technology, and access to resources
- Conduct trainings or consultations for staff regarding hearing loss, communication strategies, and classroom modifications
- Maintain accurate records, ensure compliance with state and federal special education regulations
