Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1 year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a meaningful impact by supporting students in educational settings as a full-time Sign Language Interpreter. This contract opportunity offers two openings for experienced professionals to work onsite for the entire 2026-2027 academic year, beginning August 10th, 2026 and tentatively concluding by May 20th, 2027 (potentially extending until May 27th, 2027). Assignments and specific student partnerships will be discussed during your interview.
Ideal candidates will possess a collaborative spirit and a strong commitment to fostering access and inclusion for students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing. As this is an onsite-only role, all interpreting services will be conducted in person.
Desired Qualifications:
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (required)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and interpreting within educational/academic environments
- Current certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Familiarity with the needs of students in special education settings is a plus
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Reliable, punctual, and flexible to accommodate varying daily assignments
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time sign language interpretation for students during classroom instruction, activities, and meetings
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and school staff
- Ensure clear and accurate transmission of information according to students’ individualized needs
- Maintain professional confidentiality and ethical interpreting standards
- Adapt interpreting style and strategies to match students’ language development and academic content
