Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Current certification in Adaptive Physical Education or Physical Education with an Adaptive endorsement
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Adapted Physical Education, Special Education, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Previous experience teaching or supporting students with disabilities in a school setting
- Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and ability to implement modified PE curricula
- Excellent communication skills with students, colleagues, and families
- Creative problem-solver with a patient and adaptable teaching style
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver individualized and group adaptive physical education lessons tailored to students’ needs and abilities
- Collaborate with special education and general education staff to support motor skill development
- Monitor and track student progress, participating in IEP meetings and providing input on goals and accommodations
- Foster a positive, safe environment where all students feel encouraged to participate and succeed
- Utilize a variety of activities and adaptive equipment to maximize student engagement
- Stay current on best practices and evidence-based strategies in adaptive physical education
