Hotel General Manager

Best Western Davison Inn is seeking an experienced, hands-on Hotel General Manager to lead daily hotel operations, develop a dependable team, deliver excellent guest service, and improve the hotel's operating performance. This role oversees front desk, housekeeping, laundry, breakfast service, maintenance, and guest service while working closely with ownership on staffing, revenue, expenses, and property standards.

The ideal candidate has hotel management experience, practical knowledge of hotel Property Management Systems (PMS), strong guest handling skills, and the ability to turn operational and financial reports into clear actions.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily hotel operations and coordinate departments to maintain clean, safe, well-maintained guest rooms and public areas.
• Hire, train, schedule, coach, and evaluate staff; maintain reliable coverage and hold the team accountable for service and performance.
• Oversee reservations, check-in/check-out, room inventory, guest folios, payments, night-audit procedures, and accurate shift handovers through the hotel PMS.
• Resolve escalated guest concerns professionally, follow through on service recovery, and use recurring feedback to improve operations.
• Review occupancy, average daily rate (ADR), revenue per available room (RevPAR), booking pace, and channel performance; coordinate pricing and inventory decisions with ownership and the revenue team, where applicable.
• Develop local business relationships and support corporate, group, and repeat-guest bookings.
• Monitor budgets, labor costs, purchasing, supplies, cash controls, and financial reports; report results and corrective actions to ownership.
• Conduct regular property inspections and coordinate preventive maintenance, urgent repairs, and qualified contractors.
• Maintain applicable Best Western brand standards and prepare the hotel and team for quality inspections.
• Maintain accurate operating records and follow company procedures for guest privacy, payment security, workplace safety, and incident reporting.
• Lead response to operational disruptions and emergencies; provide hands-on departmental support when needed.

Required qualifications

• At least 3 years of hotel operations experience, including at least 2 years in a hotel management role with responsibility for staff and operating results.
• Experience as a Hotel General Manager or Assistant General Manager, or comparable hotel leadership experience across multiple departments.
• Hands-on hotel PMS experience involving reservations, room inventory, guest accounts, payments, and reporting.
• Strong leadership, staff scheduling, training, and performance management skills.
• Proven guest handling and complaint resolution skills, with professional communication and sound judgment.
• Ability to understand hotel operating budgets, profit-and-loss reports, labor costs, and revenue metrics.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize operational needs independently.
• Ability to work on site and accommodate evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency needs as agreed for the role.

Preferred qualifications

• Best Western or other branded hotel experience.
• Experience leading a limited-service or select-service hotel.
• Experience with online travel agency extranets, channel management, local sales, and hotel quality assurance.
• Hospitality management education or certification; equivalent practical experience is welcome.

Base salary: $55,000–$60,000 per year.
