Job Description:
The Department of Physics & Technology at Berry College seeks applicants with a strong interest in teaching undergraduate physics to serve as a lecturer and teaching lab coordinator beginning August 17, 2026. The successful candidate would teach 18 contact hours per year and supervise student workers to manage equipment for the teaching labs. The successful candidate should also be an active participant in the campus community and interested in mentoring and advising students in a residential college environment.
The physics program is known for its student-centered teaching methods and mentoring of student research, which has resulted in several Goldwater scholars. With five full-time faculty (including this position), the program awards about 10 physics BS degrees per year and manages a dual-degree engineering program with about 10 transfers per year to partner schools. We seek candidates who share our department's commitment to student engagement inside and outside of the classroom, as well as our desire to promote opportunities for students from under-represented groups. Because Berry's undergraduate student population is over 60% female, candidates with strong potential to recruit and mentor women in physics are strongly encouraged to apply.
