Position: Molecular Biology Associate
Location: San Diego, CA – Onsite
Client: Hologic, Inc.
Contract Type: W2
Duration: 08/25/2025 to 02/27/2026 (with possible extension)
Work Hours: Start between 7:30 – 8:30 AM; End at 4:00 or 5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $28.50/hr
Work Location: 10210 Genetic Center Drive, San Diego, CA 92121
Job Summary:
The Molecular Biology Associate will be responsible for the manufacture of bulk clinical and commercial kit reagents, sub-assembly formulation, raw material preparation and/or processing. This individual will actively participate in process transfer, support activities, and continuous improvements on existing processes within Operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Produce development, pilot, and production materials.
- Schedule weekly production/transfer/support activities.
- Maintain BSL3 laboratory independently and conduct lab audits.
- Write and execute protocols and reports for experiments and qualifications.
- Ensure lab equipment is calibrated and maintained.
- Initiate PDVs, NCEs; conduct investigations and generate ERP reports.
- Originate ECO/SCOs with minimal assistance.
- Design processes for transfer to full production.
- Prepare technical reports for supervisor review.
- Validate new and existing manufacturing processes and lab equipment.
- Troubleshoot microbial/molecular issues.
- Train staff on procedures, safety, and troubleshooting.
- Represent department in cross-functional project teams.
Daily Activities (per intake notes):
- Working on process orders (lab work).
- Performing lab maintenance.
- Managing general material orders.
Must-Have Skills:
- Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency.
- Microbiology lab experience or B.S. in Biology or related field.
- Strong time management, communication, prioritization, and attention to detail.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent required.
Experience:
- 0–2 years of related lab or manufacturing experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry.
- Lab safety and record keeping.
- Strong math skills.
- ERP, GMP/GLP, ISO, and CDC safety regulations.
- BSL3 safety and ECO/SCO documentation proficiency.
- Technical writing and basic presentation skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Lift/carry/push/pull up to 45 lbs.
- Exposure to mechanical parts, noise, and hazardous chemicals.
Additional Notes:
- Extension possible.
- Must be onsite.
Start time flexible within the 7:30–8:30 AM range.
