We are seeking an experienced and motivated Day Program Manager to lead daily operations, inspire a dedicated team, and support individuals in achieving greater independence, social engagement, and personal growth.
Position Overview
The Day Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the program, ensuring quality service delivery, staff support, and full regulatory compliance.
This is an on-site position based in Shelton, CT, requiring consistent in-person leadership and daily oversight of program operations.
This role operates within a team-supported leadership structure, where administrative and operational support is provided by Bella’s office team.
This is a hands-on leadership position requiring strong organization, accountability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
This role also includes ongoing program development, ensuring activities and services are engaging, meaningful, and tailored to the needs of the individuals we serve.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE (NO EXCEPTIONS)
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on management experience in a Connecticut DDS Day Program
- Candidates without direct CT DDS Day Program management experience will not be considered

Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Oversight and Development
- Develop, implement, and oversee structured daily programming including communication and life skills development, self-advocacy, social engagement, and recreational/community-based activities
- Develop and enhance program offerings to promote engagement, skill-building, and individualized growth
- Create and maintain monthly calendars, outings, and program schedules
- Ensure program space is clean, organized, and compliant with DDS and safety regulations
- Monitor program quality and implement improvements as needed
Staff Leadership and Support
- Supervise and support program staff, including Team Leads and Program Aides
- Conduct staff meetings, coaching, and performance evaluations
- Ensure staff adherence to company policies, DDS regulations, and documentation standards
- Oversee scheduling and daily staffing coordination
- Work in collaboration with Bella’s office team to support recruitment and hiring, ensuring the program remains appropriately staffed with qualified team members
Participant Care and Support
- Oversee intake and admissions for new individuals
- Monitor participant progress, behavior, and overall well-being
- Ensure appropriate support with activities of daily living as needed
- Oversee medication administration processes per policy
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation, including daily notes, incident reports, and progress updates aligned with ISP/IP goals
Family and Community Engagement
- Serve as a primary point of contact for families and caregivers
- Maintain communication with DDS case managers and interdisciplinary teams
- Participate in meetings and support individualized goal planning
- Represent Bella during site visits, tours, and community engagement opportunities
Administrative and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all Connecticut DDS regulations, audits, and program requirements
- Maintain organized documentation and readiness for inspections
- Assist with oversight of program resources, supplies, and operational needs to support efficient and effective service delivery
- Collaborate with leadership on program operations and ongoing improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required (Human Services or related field preferred)
- OR minimum 4 years of management experience may be substituted in place of a degree
- Minimum 2 years CT DDS Day Program management experience (required)
- Strong knowledge of DDS regulations, ISP/IP processes, and documentation standards
- Knowledge of behavioral support strategies and best practices for individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Valid driver’s license required
