Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated ABI ILST / Independent Living Skills Professional, with strong PCA skills to care and empower individuals with disabilities to achieve greater independence and improve their quality of life. In this vital role, you will provide personalized support, skill development, and community integration assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, behavioral health needs, and other disabilities. Duties
- Develop and implement individualized plans to enhance independent living skills, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as grooming, cooking, cleaning, and medication management
- Provide direct support to clients in their homes and community settings, promoting self-sufficiency and social engagement
- Assist clients with communication strategies, including American Sign Language (ASL), to facilitate effective interactions
- Conduct behavioral health assessments and apply behavior management techniques to support positive behavior change
- Collect and document data on client progress, service delivery, and outcomes to ensure quality care and compliance with regulations
- Support clients with transportation needs by driving safely to appointments, community activities, or employment sites
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, social workers, and other professionals to coordinate care plans and ensure holistic support
Requirements
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or related conditions
- Knowledge of special education principles and behavioral health practices
- Strong communication skills, including proficiency in American Sign Language preferred but not required
- Ability to assist with ADLs and provide caregiving support in various settings
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; reliable transportation required
- Experience in home & community care environments is highly desirable
- Ability to collect accurate data, maintain detailed records, and adhere to confidentiality standards
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols is a plus
- Compassionate attitude with excellent interpersonal skills for engaging clients of diverse backgrounds
- Flexibility to adapt plans based on individual needs and progress
