Job Summary
BELL Construction is hiring for a Superintendent to join their Heavy Highway/Civil Division in Nashville, TN. The Superintendent is responsible for leading, directing, and coordinating the work of Subcontractors, Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, Foremen, Interns, and labor, and includes ensuring safety, schedule delivery, quality of work performed, and adherence to the project budget.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensures the safety of the project by adhering to all Bell Policies and OSHA safety standards.
- Manages company field policies, procedures, and training.
- Effectively mentors and provides training for field employees.
- Plans, directs, and prioritizes all trades to keep the project moving and on schedule.
- Ensures compliance with all codes and company, state, and federal policies and regulations.
- Efficiently manages project resources (equipment, facilities, and materials needed to complete work).
- Ensures daily equipment inspections are performed and logged, and routine maintenance is performed.
- Works with Project Managers to develop schedules and Construction Reviews.
- Keeps daily reports, safety logs, progress photos, and weather logs current and accurate.
- Communicates with and manages employees effectively (promote, direct, discipline).
- Uses sound judgment and decision-making to choose appropriate actions.
- Communicates effectively with subcontractors regarding scheduling and coordination of work to meet deadlines.
- Works with Project Manager to ensure all production demands are met.
- Effectively identifies and resolves potential problems, work interferences, and schedule difficulties.

- Successfully builds and maintains good working relationships with the project design team and ownership parties and effectively communicates necessary information clearly and timely.
- Ensures a harassment-free workplace for all employees.

Education & Experience
- Minimum required – Two (2) years of experience as an Assistant Superintendent.
- OSHA-30 preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Prior experience with Heavy Job preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
