Bell & Associates is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer
As our Senior Controls Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing control systems to automate machinery and processes within our organization. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, develop control strategies, and ensure seamless integration of control systems with existing infrastructure. To be successful, you'll need a strong technical expertise in control systems, PLC programming, HMI development, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Additionally, you'll be expected to mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and stay abreast of emerging technologies in the field.
Position Details:
• Design, develop, and implement control systems for automated machinery and industrial processes.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders to understand requirements and develop control strategies to meet project objectives.
• Program PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), and other control devices using industry-standard programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text).
• Conduct testing and commissioning of control systems, ensuring functionality, reliability, and safety.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to control systems, both independently and in collaboration with other engineering teams.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and development.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives related to control systems and automation processes.
• Stay updated on advancements in control system technologies, industry standards, and best practices, and assess their applicability to existing projects.
• Collaborate with external vendors and contractors as needed for the procurement and integration of control system components.
• Adhere to relevant regulatory standards and safety protocols in all aspects of control system design and implementation.
Qualifications:
• Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Electrical and Controls Engineering or similar.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in control systems engineering, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms) and HMI development.
• Strong understanding of control system theory, including PID control, motion control, and feedback mechanisms.
• Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.
• Hands-on experience with hardware/software integration and troubleshooting of control systems.
• Advanced problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, which include presentation skills.
• Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of successfully leading and mentoring engineering teams.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards such as NEC, NFPA, ANSI, UL508A, etc., related to control system design and implementation.
• Ability to travel up to 25% Domestic US and Canada.
