Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Full-time Overnight Caregiver to provide exceptional care and support to individuals in need during nighttime hours. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care, with experience working in assisted living, nursing homes, or home health environments. The caregiver will be responsible for monitoring residents, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), and maintaining a safe and clean environment.
Duties
- Monitor residents’ vital signs, health status, and overall well-being during overnight shifts, ensuring prompt response to any changes or emergencies.
- Assist residents with ADLs such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote independence and dignity.
- Administer medications accurately following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure compliance and safety.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a caring and respectful environment.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks including cleaning resident areas, laundry, and maintaining a hygienic environment in accordance with health standards.
- Operate medical equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices safely for resident transfers.
- Document observations meticulously in accordance with care plans and communicate any concerns to nursing staff or supervisors promptly.
- Support residents with memory care needs related to Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, implementing specialized techniques for safety and comfort.
Requirements
- Proven experience in caregiving roles within assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional training in hospice care or dementia care is preferred.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of resident information.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely using assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or other special needs is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills coupled with compassionate interpersonal abilities to support residents’ emotional well-being.
