We are seeking an Vice President of Finance to serve as the senior-most finance leader and a strategic partner to the CEO and executive team. This is a high-visibility role for a finance executive with deep FP&A expertise who thrives in a subscription, performance-marketing-driven, consumer business and is energized by translating data into commercial decisions.
The Role
The VP of Finance will own the company's financial strategy, planning, and operations end to end. This leader will build and scale a best-in-class FP&A function, drive subscription economics across acquisition, retention, and lifetime value, and serve as the financial voice in board and investor conversations. The right candidate is equally comfortable in the model and in the room with the CEO defending a forecast.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Finance & FP&A
- Own the annual operating plan, quarterly reforecasts, and long-range financial model, building bottoms-up and top-down views that reconcile to a single source of truth.
- Drive subscription analytics including CAC, LTV, payback period, cohort retention, churn, ARPU, and contribution margin; partner with Marketing to optimize blended and channel-level unit economics.
- Build and maintain a driver-based forecasting model that ties marketing spend, conversion rates, subscriber cohorts, and pricing tiers to revenue, gross margin, and EBITDA.
- Deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reviews with crisp variance analysis, leading indicators, and recommended actions.
Commercial Partnership
- Partner with the CEO, VP of Marketing, and Product leaders to evaluate pricing, packaging, promotion, and paid acquisition strategy, including return on ad spend by channel and campaign.
- Build the financial business cases for new products, geographies, and partnerships; pressure-test assumptions and quantify trade-offs.
- Translate ambiguous strategic questions into structured analyses that drive decisions on where to invest and where to pull back.
Accounting, Controls & Operations
- Oversee accounting, controllership, tax, treasury, and audit; ensure timely and accurate monthly close and GAAP-compliant financial statements.
- Strengthen internal controls, financial systems, and reporting infrastructure to support scale.
- Manage cash, working capital, and capital allocation; lead any future financing or capital markets activity in partnership with the CEO and Board.
Leadership & Board Engagement
- Build, develop, and mentor a high-performing finance team across FP&A, accounting, and finance operations.
- Lead the preparation of Board and investor materials; serve as a credible spokesperson for the financial story of the business.
- Establish a culture of intellectual honesty, commercial curiosity, and operational rigor across the finance function.
Qualifications
- 10 years of progressive finance experience with a strong, demonstrable FP&A foundation; prior experience as a Head of FP&A, VP of Finance, or CFO at a high-growth company.
- Deep experience in B2C subscription or consumer internet businesses; fluent in the levers of acquisition, retention, monetization, and lifetime value.
- Track record of building forecasting models and finance functions from a less mature state to a scaled, repeatable operation.
- Strong command of performance marketing economics and the ability to partner credibly with marketing and growth teams.
- Excellent executive communication skills; able to distill complexity for the CEO, Board, and cross-functional partners.
- Hands-on operator who can build the model and lead the team; comfortable moving between strategic dialogue and detailed analysis.
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA, CPA, or investment banking / private equity background is a plus.
- Experience in EdTech, career services, media, or other content-driven subscription businesses is a strong advantage.
