Position Overview
The Solutions Architect will lead the design and implementation of enterprise-level application and solution architectures across hybrid and cloud environments. This role is responsible for defining system components, integration strategies, and ensuring alignment with business goals and technical standards. The architect will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design scalable, secure, and efficient technology solutions that support the strategic initiatives.
Work Expectations
- Initial Period: During the 3-month probationary period, the candidate is required to work onsite in Richmond, VA, 3 4 days per week.
- Post Probation: The position transitions to a largely remote arrangement, with an expectation of being onsite at least one week per quarter (for leadership Town Halls or project needs).
- Laptop Pick up: Candidate must be available to collect agency-issued equipment onsite in Richmond, VA.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and document enterprise and solution architectures, ensuring integration with existing applications and COTS systems.
- Define and estimate application components, workflows, data models, and integration layers across on-prem, hybrid, and cloud environments.
- Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to translate requirements into automated, scalable solutions.
- Develop solution design artifacts such as technical estimates, system diagrams, data models, and sequence diagrams.
- Assess feasibility, compatibility, and performance of new system proposals with existing infrastructure.
- Lead and consult on enterprise architecture initiatives, providing tactical and strategic direction.
- Define and implement enterprise security and technology patterns.
- Partner with enterprise architects and technical leaders to develop technology roadmaps that support agency KPIs.
- Support Agile development teams and provide architecture considerations for legacy and new systems.
Required Qualifications
- 8 years of experience in enterprise-level application design and integration.
- 8 years in Azure architecture (cloud-native and hybrid).
- 5 years working with Docker and Azure cloud services (AKS, Azure Functions, Azure Container Services, Azure App Services, Azure API Management).
- 8 years' experience with SaaS architecture and integration design.
- 8 years' experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies, preferably SAFe.
- 2 years working with Azure Data Factory and Azure Data Lake.
- 2 years working with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse) and Dynamics 365.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Esri ArcGIS (2 years).
- Strong knowledge of database design, APIs (SOAP/REST), XML, and system security practices.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional enterprise integrations.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
- Strong understanding of business process modeling, requirements analysis, and data mapping.
